Since my days of powering through the winter wonderland of the the canadian north are now behind me, and my blogging so stagnent it resembles muskeg rather than a pond, I thought it high time to start version two of my blog. For a while I have been toying, in that feetup, leaning back idling looking at the roof sort of way, of starting a bit of a more useful blog. Less poetic ramblings and more stuff that may have some bearing for someone.
I have transitioned, somewhat successfully, from waged to salaried labour, and joined the near infinite ranks of middle management. In that, I suppose, I have done well, with only the normal set of blunders and some rather fortuitous turns of chance that have made me appear competent.
That said, one of the little gems of wisdom I have gleaned in the past couple years is that everyone is at least occasionally faking it. At least in the world of management. The simpler the job, the short time it takes to master and hence the more chance that you really truely know what you are doing. The more complex the job, the greater the chance that at least in some areas you are, at best, winging it. For me the winging has mostly resembled real flight at least from the outside, and in some areas I actually now have the confidence to proceed from a point of knowledge. Some, but not all.
